It was Clan Frandruil. They sent them to the Inquisition as thanks for our help in smoothing things over between the clan and the nearby humans. They come from the Free Marches. That means they had a long journey.
Oh, I don't know. A lot of our language has been lost over the years. But usually clans were named after their founder, so an important figure from the Dales. Maybe back then, they knew what it meant, or by that point, it was just a name that passed down.
I would be honored, my lady. I would greatly appreciate instruction.
[ he considers ending the message there, but: ]
Ellana, I have so far assumed that you and your kin know I consider- we consider, for I know the Lady feels as I do- all of us as one people, all of us elves. I had assumed you felt the same.
Oh, you're right in thinking that! From the first time I met Lady Galadriel, she told me as much and I consider us the same as well. [ There's a pause before she says, with humor in her voice, ] I mean beside you being so very tall.
[ She doesn't mention the fact that she looks at these elves of Middle-earth as perhaps how her people used to be before the Fall. And she might just see a bit of Mythal when she looks at Galadriel. ]
I am pleased. [ his voice is warm. ] I would not have the Dalish thinking we consider ourselves anything but cousins. We intend to aid you in restoring what ought to be. I make no grandiose claims on being some manner of savior.
[ It sounds so unattainable, but she does hold hopes for the future. Maybe in the future, humans won't view elves as they do now. Maybe the Dalish elves can have permanent homes and not always have to move. Galadriel and Thranduil do cut impressive figures and surely make humans think twice about the elves. ]
Well I for one welcome the help! I've been doing some research, hoping to explore elven ruins and regain a little piece of our history that was lost. So far, I've only been to one ruin, but I wrote all about it in my journal and made copies of the artwork I saw there, if you'd ever been interested in seeing it. I think it's important to know where we came from and who we were to know where we're going in the future.
[ She takes a breath. Was that too much information? She does tend to gush about subjects she's passionate about. Don't ever ask about her beau unless you want maximum levels of gushing. ]
Of course. It was a unique place. There were mosaics and statues to all of our gods, instead of just one god. Usually an elven ruin is a temple or a shrine devoted to one. I have a couple theories about why, like either it was more convenient to worship all the gods together in one location, or maybe the elves of the Dales brought the worship to one location to keep encroaching humans from interfering. Without more information, I can't say.
There were puzzles in the ruin. A series of floor tiles you had to step on in the right order, and a bunch of levers you had to pull. But that opened up a locked room and, well, we had to fight some walking corpses and a Revenant, but after that, we found a clue that could lead to an important elven artifact of the Dales -- the Sulevin Blade.
Not yet. I've been researching the clues and I'm on the right trail. I now have help from one of Sister Nightingale's scouts as well, and we're making progress. Once I know where they lead, I can tell you about it.
[ She inhales a breath on pure surprise. Leliana had said the Inquisition couldn't help Ellana with this financially until she gave them more to go on. Clues and assumptions weren't enough. ]
Oh, ser... are you quite sure? That would be-- I would love any help you'd be willing to give!
a note ;
I am afraid I have lost my escort for the halla. Would you be willing to take up that particular burden?
Yours,
Thranduil
{ sending crystal response }

May I ask- which clan bred these halla?
